Forget The Fancy Hacks … Choose Simple Self - Care For Real Results
To be honest, I didn’t even know basic discipline with daily healthy habits is in fact self - care, did you? I’m not really a fancy spa day or overpriced cream person anyway, so I was relieved to know that the basic, practical, no-nonsense ways to take care of ourselves without buyer’s remorse are not only beneficial, but in the grand scheme of things, actually help us more than the big ticket items that are unrealistic or even unworthy of our time and money.
Here’s some simple ways to find your new rhythm with self - care methods that are both budget friendly, and make a massive difference in your physical and mental health after 40 …..
1. Move Your Body Daily :
• Outdoor walks.

2. Hydrate like your life depends on it, because it does.

3. Mind Your Mind :
• Wake up early, have a morning routine that sets the tone for your day. Name everything you’re grateful for.
• Cultivate a calming bedtime routine, shut screens off 1 hour before bed and Try for 7-9 hours of quality sleep.
• Regular digital detoxes. Unfollow those who deplete you.
• Read books that help you learn, heal, and grow.
4. DIY Beauty :
• Epsom salt baths.
• Gua sha stone for your face and neck. Ice baths and masks.
• Self-massage techniques : foam roller, HyperIce Hyper Volt, even a tennis ball.
Consistency is GOLD :
Show up for your SELF every day. ESPECIALLY when you don’t feel like it. Discipline with your self - care boosts your mood and gives you a sense of accomplishment and success,
Make it STICK :
• Start small, add gradually. Remember, the basics on repeat are how you’ll feel your best.
• Set phone reminders, or pair your activities with actions you’re already taking (ex. take supplements after brushing teeth).
• Track your progress. I use My Fitness Pal for calories, Workouts, and Hydration.
• Be kind to yourself on off days. Hormones and life happens, give yourself grace and do your best.
COMMIT to your self - care, and you’ll get :
• More energy.
• Better stress management.
• Improved sleep.
• A more balanced, HEALTHY, enjoyable lifestyle.
• BONUS BENEFIT : Feelings of increased CONFIDENCE and self - respect.
Remember, self - care isn’t necessarily about pampering, it’s about smart choices and realistic, repeatable, sustainable healthy habits that keep you at your best through perimenopause and beyond.
